Washington Girls Camps         Girls Summer Camps in Washington

Summer Camp Washington! Our Washington summer camps have been full every summer. The green lush rainforest and Pacific Ocean landscape of our Washington Olympics trip is not at all similar to the rugged landscape of rocky mountain Montana and also different from the Washington Cascades trip. When you have completed this trip, you'll feel like an Olympic winner!

Sea Kayaking & Blueberry Picking: Paddling 2-person sea kayaks with professional instruction from Port Townsend Outdoor guides is a stable and leisurely way to catch a glimpse of eagles, herons, otters and seals with pups! We start off our adventurous itinerary by sea kayaking on Chimacum Creek. At high tide, often eight feet above low, the estuary is an extension of Port Townsend Bay, an offshoot of Puget Sound. U-pick blueberries at a local organic farm ends a berry awesome day of camp introductions and sea kayaking with your new Alpengirl friends! Our second day of sea kayaking is guided by Adventures Thru Kayaking and takes place near the end of our adventures together, we'll explore the beautifully rugged shoreline on the Straits of Juan de Fuca near Pt Angeles, WA. Paddling in Washington is a favorite activity of past Alpengirls, these two days will inspire you to join us again for multi-day sea kayaking expeditions in Alaska or Norway in your near future with Alpengirl.

Rainforest/Alpine Backpacking & Hot Springs: Backpacking in the mountains of Olympic National Park, a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site, is a daily discovery of panoramic ocean and Mount Olympus views. The mountains here stand almost as high above the Pacific Ocean as do the Rocky Mountains above the Great Plains. Five days of lush green forest and alpine backpacking 4-8 miles each day will transform us into Olympic Alpengirl Goddesses! We'll hike pace that allows our group to enjoy each step into the great unknown as we gain a sense of stewardship by connecting with the natural world on the road less traveled. Outdoor camping skill basics that minimize the impact on our natural environment are taught right from the beginning on all Alpengirl trips and are relied upon throughout this teen girls camp session. Campers will learn how to properly pack and carry a backpack with a limited and select number of items (sleeping bag, pad, clothing, and a portion of tent and food). We'll leave all extra gear, worries and conveniences behind as we rise above our own expectations! An evening soak at Sol Duc Hot Springs upon our return to the trailhead is long awaited and the fun has just begun.

Beach Backpacking & Tide Pooling: For three days we'll enjoy leisurely backpacking and exploration, camping under the stars on a sand beach just above the waves of the ocean, making sand candles, and cooking over a beach bonfire on Rialto Beach in Olympic National Park at legendary hole-in-the-wall. The tide pools here are one of the world's richest most diverse habitats for inter tidal marine wildlife. Expect dramatic colors - pink sunsets, green sea anemones, purple starfish, and bright orange sea cucumbers! Yoga on the beach here is wonderful, and so is the ultimate Frisbee Alpenolympic event!

Victoria, BC: Canada is just a 1-hour ferry ride away. The European atmosphere of Victoria beckons from across the strait, and we'll spend the entire day touring this provincial capital.

The best thing about this trip - besides the fact that All Alpengirl trips ROCK is... "2 days of sea kayaking, an awesome backpacking loop, Canada, and ecological diversity: rainforest to alpine to ocean!"

Washington Alpengirl Parent Review - Testimonial

"In Jillians words, 'Alpengirl rocks!' Jillian had an experience she will never forget! She came home from the Washington trip more confident and more mature than I have ever seen her. She learned that she could exceed her own expectations for herself, that she could work harder and tolerate more difficult physical situations than she believed. Jillian is so so proud of her accomplishments - she refers to an Alpengirl experience almost daily - even 3 weeks later! The two weeks that Jillian spent with Alpengirl was indeed well spent. She was both challenged - to hike just a little further - and rewarded - filled with pride when a difficult task was accomplished. She came home a little bit sturdier, a lot more compassionate, and much more confident in her own abilities. Through experiences at Alpengirl, Jillian has taken several important steps toward growing up. Her best day was kayaking - her day to be the leader. She learned how to consider others needs when it was time to make a decision, and how to encourage and inspire the group. Sending Jillian on an Alpengirl trip is the best decision I ever made and we're looking forward to next summer!" ~ JoLynne (Bainbridge Island, Washington)
