Leader in training at Alpengirl - an adventure camp for girls - is designed for Alpengirls who want to be future Alpenguides; this is where the process begins! A small group of 3-6 AIT's will be selected by application to join us on a HUGE adventure delving into the heart of Alpengirl! If you're prepared for leadership, taking charge of your own expedition to positively influence the Alpengirls of tomorrow, then you're primed for this challenge. Call for an application TODAY!

Why become an AIT? Becoming an Alpenguide in Training marks a completion of the full-circle Alpengirl experience, from Lil' Alpengirl (age 11) to Alpengirl Adventuress (age 12-15), to Alpenguide in Training (age 16/17) to Alpenintern (age 17+), and official Alpenguide (age 20). It is an affordable adventure that gains you the experience and skills to successfully secure a future of rewarding employment in the outdoor industry. Working at camp during college summer is an awesome way to save in living costs, travel to new places, and to be outdoors with a bunch of energetic like-minded people. If your summer dream job down the road is working for a National Park, a summer camp, an international travel adventure program, or teaching kids science in the outdoors, this is your start.

What will I gain? This session will allow you to confidently add a minimum of the following highlights to your professional outdoor resume:
-Participated in 3-day, 17-19-mile wilderness backpacking trips in the rainforest, alpine forest and beach
-Competent in topographical map reading, basic route planning, and knowledge of tide tables
-Posses an introductory understanding and practical experience in providing basics of Wilderness First Aid
-Developed and taught an outdoor educational activity such as tide pooling, plant identification or Leave No Trace to groups of campers
-Cooked a variety of healthy and nutritious "camp gourmet" meals for groups of campers on outdoor stoves
-Experience leading Alpenyoga routine to groups of campers
-Competent in leading significant portions of a girls outdoor camp session for 7 days. Including and not limited to teaching tent camping basics, teaching morning yoga, leading Alpenolympics and educational activities, positive group development, and role modeling good expedition behavior.

How do I sign up? Call Alissa, the Alpengirl Camp Director, for a verbal idea of what the session will be like and to request an application. Once your application is received the Camp Director will conduct a brief telephone interview with you. If you are successful in being offered an AIT space, you'll attend the session and be constantly supervised and guided by Alpenguides on staff, and you will be designated to specific areas of leadership expertise; determined by your group, by your strengths and your interests. Your fun loving, adventurous, confident, knowledgeable, educated and creative personality is what will make your session and the Lil' Alpengirl session a smashing success!
