I started hiking lower elevation trails in Montana recently and came across some wildflowers - we may be able to spot some of these beauties during camp season in early summer! ~ Alissa

Alpenguides (not campers) will be calling parents after backpacking ends on Sunday August 2 and campers will call home on Saturday August 8. No news = good news at camp. More blogs as I hear it from the Alpenguides Rose and Cristina.
Campers Leaving the Bozeman Airport for ADVENTURE!
Van Rules 101
Alpengirls with Final Portfolios
The Greater Yellowstone Adventure Alpengirls completed the backpacking trip to Albro Lake at 8,829 ft., about 13 miles round-trip in 4 days. The group showed great teamwork and enjoyed 4th of July celebrations with pudding cups, sparklers and bubbles on the trail! Today the group will tour caverns and soak in hot spring before a final hooray and hoopla day of shopping and pizza party closing celebrations in Bozeman.
The Greater Yellowstone Adventure Girls are backpacking. They’ll have arrived at a high alpine lake today surrounded by mountain peaks. Some of the more adventurous Alpengirls will undoubtedly choose to jump in the ice-cold mountain water, an invigorating splash they’ll never forget! Weather has been a mix of sun and rain, but mostly sun. Alpenguide Crisitina hiked in with the group on the 4th and 5th and reported that the group was doing better than they expected they would with many girls learning that backpacking is a challenge they can do. Backpacking ends tomorrow and the group will hike downhill all they way back to the van and enjoy a long-waited shower at the campground nearby. I think the backpacking trip will be the highlight for the development of these girls as a group. Sometimes it takes backpacking to see what the group as a whole is really made of, these girls are stronger than they think and can achieve more than they dare to dream.
Montana Photojournalism Camp Group 2009
The Alpengirl MT Photojournalists have arrived and camp has started with excellent weather and excited campers. They had a a good nights sleep last night with plenty of z’s and woke to yoga and Applesauce Oatmeal Pancakes! They have been introduced to their assignment, “An Alpengirl and Her Adventures” and many girls have started thinking specifically about a theme for their final portfolio - some will focus on friendships others on landscapes. They will arrive to the Centennial Mountain Wilderness Base Camp this evening for a campfire and “Everything on a Stick” campfire meal - super fun and yummy - this new Alpengirl favorite meal was tested and given the big thumbs up this summer by the MT Horse Campers. Remember parents, no news = good news; the parent call date from the Alpenguides is scheduled for July 4th (morning, afternoon or evening.) More from the field as I receive it…
Fun with Digital Cameras!

Alpengirls Montana Canoeing
Happy Trails to the Montana Horse Camp Alpengirls! This was an awesome group, thank you for the great memories created, I am still reading through the wonderful Alpenessays - my favorite so far is…
“Alpengirl has taught me a valuable lesson in teamwork: One person can do a lot, a group can do even more but a team can do everything. Yet, these aren’t just teams, they’re Alpengirls, and we’re invincible!”
Alpengirl Parents will be receiving a camper/parent camp evaluation survey link by email soon, please look for that in your inbox soon and take a moment to complete it, it helps us to improve.
There are hundreds of photo snap shots taken by the Alpenguides on the camp photo cd - you may mail a check to Alpengirl for $40 for camp cd’s, profit goes towards camper scholarships in 2010. We hope to adventure with you all in 2010!
MT Horse Camp Pack Trip
"Happy Trails" MT Horse Camp 2009
After a favorite camp breakfast of Fruit Quesadillas, the Montana Horse Camp girls enjoyed a sunny day of canoeing, floating and swimming this afternoon on the Henry’s Fork of the Snake River near Macks Inn, ID. They have finished up their horseback riding days at camp and the report is that all rode the horse named “Wonder” (Mel’s troublemaker), and all galloped on their horses, and many tried riding bareback at camp. The group occupies itself very very well by singing Do-Ray-Me from the Sound of Music, and according to FAUM, long-time Alpenguide, this is one of her best groups yet!
Greater Yellowstone Adventure Camp Group 2009 - Montana
A sunny and beautiful start to Greater Yellowstone Adventure Camp today! The girls all arrived on time and well prepared for the adventures ahead. Campers were officially “checked-in” and wearing whistles and smiles when they left the airport for the campground nearby. Rafting is tomorrow afternoon, they are all excited for that, it should be sunny and hot tomorrow, a good day to spend on the water! Remember parents… no news=good news, staff will plan to call parents on the “parent call date” Monday June 29. If your girls love this camp session, you should look at our Hawaii Adventure Camp for Girls this summer too… on sale now!
Alpengirls Away!
Leaving the Airport
2009 Montana Horse Camp Group
Alpengirl Summer Camp 2009 BEGINS! The Montana Horse Camp Adventure girls arrived today at the airport and all were wearing smiles as they drove away, headed for a forest service campground nearby to set-up tents, get to know each other through games, eat a hot yummy dinner and hopefully get a good nights sleep after a long day of travel for many girls. The weather here is rainy and cool, forecast has mixed reviews of what is to come, looks like rain and sun mixed with Tuesday and Wednesday looking the best in the coming days. Remember folks, no news=good news, but, I will try to report regularly what I hear and see “From the Field” The Horse Camp girls indicated an awesome start to this summer to me, they are energized, talkative and giggly.
