Bigger is not always better, compare Alpengirl to other bigger teen adventure camps and you’ll see the value of choosing Alpengirl.
Save on gear. We have limited our gear list to a minimum of needs for camping expeditions and offer backpacks and clothing at no charge to campers who simply cannot afford to pay for gear that outdoor adventuring requires. Because we offer shorter-term camps and have laundry available a few times during camp, we do not require the same amount of technical clothing and gear as other teen camps. For example, another camp may require 2 pairs of zip-off nylon pants or 2 fleece jackets; we only require 1 of each. Alpengirl provides all group gear including tents, stoves, cookware, riding helmets, food, and snacks (even in the airport). The gear required should never limit your ability to join us, just let us know what your needs are and we’ll make sure you have them met.
Personal attention. We limit our groups to less than 12 girls with 2-3 staff. There are less than 120 campers attending Alpengirl each summer, less than 11 sessions offered this summer, and only 3 sessions operating at any one time. This means that there are only 36 girls at any one time at Alpengirl. Our small family-style camp allows each camper (and each camp parent) to receive generous portions of personal attention.
Short-term affordable camp sessions. We understand that camp tuition is a stretch for many and in response we offer shorter term and more affordable adventures and are we are willing to work with specialized payment plans. Our camp sessions are 7-days, 8-days, 14-days, 15-days or 18-days maximum. Larger teen adventure camps have larger overhead and cannot afford to offer short-term camps like ours. Our average per day camp price is $141. Look at any other teen adventure camp and divide the tuition by the number of days of the camp session and see that we are competitive if not lower and include the same if not better value.
Experienced Alpenguides. This summer our average Alpenguide age is 27 and we have a 75% returning Alpenguide rate. So far, our returning Alpenguides are Alyssa Schmit, Kelly McGrath, Hannah Hardaway & Maggie Henderson – all camper favorites!
Active Itineraries! Our itineraries are non-stop adventure. Each session has many different adventure activities and every day at camp involves either backpacking, canoeing, rock climbing, surfing, sea kayaking, hiking, white water rafting, horseback riding, etc. Yoga is a great start to every day at camp too! We’d rather keep you adventuring outdoors than in the van, we keep van time to less than 5% of a trip.
New vans. We only use new model vans on our adventures and keep driving time to a minimum.
Camp tuition is all-inclusive. You’ll need to arrange travel to/from camp, but, once you arrive, everything is paid for. Girls will bring some personal spending money for replacing personal items such as camera film or batteries or for end of camp souvenirs.
